What is Soul Talk About?

Soul Talk is ancient. It is found in poetry and songs. It has been the topic of Philosophy and Theology. Soul Centers bring the conversations about the soul back into the mainstream.

The Bible is filled with Soul Discussions!

God created us as living souls.

 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7)

Dealing with mental health is often a soul conversation.

My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul. (Job 10:1)

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. (Psalm 42:11)

My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long? Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake. (Psalm 6:3-4)

For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave. (Psalm 88:3)

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. (Psalm 23:3)

The soul (body, spirit, mind, heart, will, and emotions) worships God!

Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. (Psalm 25:1)

And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation. (Psalm 35:9)

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; (Psalm 63:1)

My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. (Psalm 84:2)

Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: (Psalm 103:1-2)

And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, (Luke 1:46) 

The hymn “How Great Thou Art” is one of the most popular hymns in the last 100 years. Swede Carl Boberg wrote it in 1885 entitled “O Store Gud.” English missionary Stuart K. Hines created an English version in 1949. George Beverly Shea and Cliff Barrows often sang this hymn during the Billy Graham crusades.  

The chorus of this hymn reaches the voice of the soul. The soul sings. That means our whole being acknowledges the greatness of God.

Carrie Underwood brought conversations of the soul back into focus as she performed at an empty Ryman auditorium during the pandemic in 2021. People are being called back to discussing the soul in a relationship with God! Then sings my soul!

A person responds to soul talk and encouragement.

 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. (Proverbs 16:24)

As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country. (Proverb 25:25)

 Soul conversations go deeply into marriage love.

It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me. (Song of Solomon 3:4)

God wants your souls to fare well.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. (3 John 2)

God saves us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ! This is gospel soul transformation!

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:16-17)

The soul word of the Bible is powerful for life transformation.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
